Built from lived experience.
Rooted in community.

In 2018, Iya Dammons founded Baltimore Safe Haven from her own lived experience navigating homelessness, housing instability, and a system that wasn't built for people like her. What started as a community effort became Maryland's only organization of its kind — a Black-led, community-rooted wellness center serving thousands of people across housing, health, and community services.

Today, BSH operates from 814 N. Collington Ave. in Baltimore, delivering person-centered care, housing placement, and wraparound support services to those who need them most.

"We lead by example, by lived experience — because we know exactly what our community needs."
